Schlosspark Köln-Stammheim 2006
From a distance, birdcages are to be seen in a tree. On approach their cage doors appear to be hanging open. Will the binoculars lying to hand be of any use help solve the mystery?
Surrounded by their restless cousins, birds can be observed in the branches having just slipped their cages. The binoculars' magnification shows more than just the sculptures details: A bird's eye view of the world in the trees is revealed.
But it is not only the birds who have escaped: Whoever peers through the binoculars has also made it out of their concrete nest and into the park.
